چکیده

The present study investigated the mitigative effect of Vitex negundo against sodium fluoride (NaF) induced cardio and nephrotoxicity. hydroalcoholic extract leaves (HAEVNL) was prepared by maceration method. Group I, II, III served as normal, toxic, plant control groups in treatment schedule. IV V (200 400 mg/kg b.wt, p.o) groups. IV, treated with NaF (100ppm) through drinking water for 4 weeks. Cardiac kidney parameters such LDH, CK-MB, Lipid profile, Creatinine, Urea, Uric acid were estimated. heart tissues LPO, GSH, SOD, CAT levels histopathological studies performed. Phytochemical investigation showed alkaloids, saponins, phytosterols, flavonoids, phenols, tannins. Rats administered have demonstrated a significant rise TC, TG, LDL-C, VLDL-C, acid. Tissue LPO increased while there decrease serum HDL-C tissue levels. Treatment HAEVNL effective recovery NaF-induced evaluation also added to benefits leaves. concluded that leaf antioxidant fluoride- nephrotoxicity rats.

Protective effect of the leaves of Vitex negundo against ethanol-induced cerebral oxidative stress in rats.

The present study investigated the effect of the various fractions of hydromethanolic extract of the leaves of Vitex negundo (Verbenaceae) against ethanol-induced cerebral oxidative stress in rats. Cerebral oxidative stress was induced by the administration of 20% ethanol (5 ml/100 gbw) for a period of 28 days. The petroleum ether (PEF), chloroform (CF), ethylacetate (EAF) and residual (RF) fra...

Effect of oral administration of ethanolic extract of Vitex negundo on thioacetamide-induced nephrotoxicity in rats

BACKGROUND Oxidative stress due to abnormal induction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) molecules is believed to be involved in the etiology of many diseases. Evidences suggest that ROS is involved in nephrotoxicity through frequent exposure to industrial toxic agents such as thioacetamide (TAA). The current investigation was designed to explore the possible protective effects of the leaves of V...

Protective effects of aqueous extract of M. Pruriens Linn. (DC) seed against gentamicin induced oxidative stress and nephrotoxicity in rats

In the present study, we investigated the effects of the aqueous extract of Mucuna pruriens against gentamicin (100 mg kg -1 per day for six days) induced oxidative stress and nephrotoxicity in rats. Administration of gentamicin to rats induced a marked renal failure, characterized by a significant increase in urine volume and serum creatinine and urea levels. There was a significant decr...
